Flag of Mars

A once burgeoning colony of various polities, supranational organisations, and corporate conglomerates, many people had seen Mars as the New World of the 22nd century. 

The first person to land on Mars was a Space X/NASA expedition in the CE 2030s. This little trip to the red planet would later the Second Space Race with China, India, the various Western space agencies of the US, Japan, and the EU, and an ubiquitous amount of corporate conglomerates that sought to make a profit in space. Mars would later have a permanent settlement by China under the Zheng He colony in CE 2054. After that, the red planet was up for grabs. 

Numerous colonies and corporate land grants were plotted all across the Martian terrain from CE 2060 to CE 2200. It wasn't until CE 2211 that a Martian identity had coalesced into a revolution that would spawn the Martian Commonwealth. Led by an Amhara descent, Ewodeshalhu Mulugata led the revolution to create the first independent Martian nation-state.

The Martian Commonwealth's flag was plastered with a dark red hue from the background, initiating the red dust of the former Martian soil. The red triangles at the centre represents the symbol of Mulugata during the revolution. The two-triangle symbol would be used in many facets to indicate Martian identity and nationalism.
